The short answer

Choose Home for everyday use: browsing, streaming, school work and gaming. Choose Pro if you need disk encryption with BitLocker, Remote Desktop to connect into your PC, virtual machines with Hyper-V, or you will join the PC to a company network.

Does Windows 11 Home have Hyper-V?

No. Hyper-V is only in Pro, Enterprise and Education. If you run virtual machines for testing or study, you need Pro.

How to upgrade Windows 11 Home to Pro

  1. Buy a Windows 11 Pro key: Windows 11 Pro product key (retail) or Windows 11 Pro OEM key.
  2. Open Settings, then System, then Activation.
  3. Select Change product key and enter your Pro key.
  4. Windows upgrades and restarts. Your files and apps stay.

Which key should you buy?

Retail keys can move to another PC later. OEM keys stay with one PC and cost less. Our guide OEM vs Retail vs Volume Licence explains the difference. Windows 11 Pro is RM399 (retail) or RM299 (OEM) with free shipping in Malaysia. Before you buy anywhere, read how to check that a Windows licence is genuine.
